An archival premium Quality Art Print of a Mother and Child in a Boat by Edmund Charles Tarbell for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1892 with the original size being 30 by 35 inches. In 1923 this artwork was donated to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts by David P. Kimball, where it still resides today. Although Tarbell had been exposed to Impressionism during his student days in Paris from 1884 to 86, it was not until 1890 that he started painting in the progressive manner. He was most likely influenced by Sargent. Tarbell's wife, Emiline and his daughter Josephine are the models in the boat. The overhanging branches and high viewpoint are borrowed from Japanese prints and provide an intimate view of the figures in the boat. This was a popular motif for French and American Impressionist Artists. Famous Artists print #139
