Bierstadt Albert - Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains painted by Albert Bierstadt in 1868 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The original of this oil on canvas now resides at the Museum of American Art in New York City, this is an enormous painting measuring around 6 feet by 10 feet. In the composition distant snow capped peaks are present in the center right of the scene, where the clouds cover the upper tops of the mountains. The trees on the right and cliffs on the left create a V in the center of the artwork in which a small waterfall comes down off the mountains, drawing the viewer's eye. A large waterfall is pouring down the high rocky mountains to the left. Bierstadt shows his German background in the style of this painting with carefully placed sun highlights streaming from the top and dark shadows provide dramatic lighting, often present in European paintings of the era. The painting also has warmness in addition to the sharp lighting contrasts which is evident in the yellow hues of the sky backdrop and the small waterfowl and deer by the lake's edge.
