An archival premium Quality art Print of the 1800 Portrait of Thomas Jefferson by Rembrandt Peale for sale by Brandywine General Store. Jefferson served as the 3rd President of the United States from 1801 - 1809. This portrait of soon to be President Thomas Jefferson was painted by Rembrandt Peale in 1800 and was completed in the capital of Philadelphia before Jefferson left for his home of Monticello in Charlottesville Virginia. The face has a warm complexion and has the glow of good health. This oil on canvas original print measures 23 1/8 by 19 1/4 inches in size and is now in the White House Collection by gifting of Mr. and Mrs Paul Mellon. Rembrandt Peale was an early American portrait painter who was taught by his famous father, Charles Wilson Peale. Thomas Jefferson missed by only 4 votes of becoming president in 1796, losing out to John Adams, Jefferson went on to become the vice president under Adams. In 1800 Jefferson won the presidential election and became President in 1801 and served as our Commander in Chief for two terms until 1809. One of Jefferson's big accomplishments while in office was buying the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon, in effect doubling the size of the young United States overnight, without firing a shot. Jefferson was also the founder and architect of the University of Virginia, a project he worked on from his hillside home of Monticello until his death in 1826. Famous people art print #02
