A one dollar obsolete Virginia treasury note issued July 21, 1862 during the Civil War for sale by Brandywine General Store. This obsolete currency was from the second war issue of notes by the commonwealth, the one dollar notes were issued in 3 different dates with the July date being the most common. They are rated as R-2 meaning it is estimated between 5,001 to 10,000 still exist today, Criswell designated these obsolete bills as VA #17. The center vignette features a maiden setting on a gnarled log holding a wooden bucket. A portrait of Virginia Governor Letcher is on the left.
