A one dollar obsolete Virginia treasury note issued May 15, 1862 during the Civil War for sale by Brandywine General Store. This obsolete currency was from the second war issue of notes by the commonwealth, the one dollar notes were issued in 3 different dates with the May 15 being somewhat rarer than July and October 1862 dates. They are rated as R-4 meaning it is estimated between 1501 to 2500 still exist today. The center vignette features a maiden setting on a gnarled log holding a wooden bucket. A portrait of Virginia Governor Letcher is on the left.
