A twenty dollar obsolete civil war treasury note from the commonwealth of Virginia issued August 1, 1861 from the scarcer 1st issue of War currency from VA for sale by Brandywine General Store. These Civil War notes were payable in interest at 6% one year after issue, Criswell designated this example as CR #3. The twenty dollar obsolete bill from the scarce first issue has a green overprint, Minerva standing is on the left, an oval portrait of George Washington is in the center and on the right is a seated male figure wearing a toga. This civil war currency is rated at R7 on the rarity scale meaning it is estimated only 101 to 400 are thought to still exist.
