Branchville SC Bogus 25 cents obsolete currency 1861
An obsolete twenty five cent bogus note issued on the Corporation of Branchville during the Civil War in 1861 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This counterfeit note has a wharf scene with sailor in the center, sailing ship on the left and a frontiersman on the right. A red shield is on the back with Southern Rights and Death Before Dishonor. In the South Carolina reference book on obsolete currency they estimated between 16 to 25 of these change notes still exist. Our estimated grade to be used as a reference only is very fine plus, there are light fold marks on the back that do not show up well in the picture, but still a very nice looking bill.
